Six pieces for gralla

  • During the summer of 2004 I wrote "Six pieces for a group of gralles and drum", and dedicated them to the "Colla Jove", as the group was celebrating their 25th anniversary.

    The first public performance was done during Tarragona's Santa Tecla feasts by the group "Grallers de l'Alfàbrega". After that, our group of grallers in the "Colla Jove" have gradually taking them into our repertoire.

    The works are written for the normal -keyless- instrument, for two voices, and we carefully avoided difficulties as much as possible: therefore we limited the extension to a interval of one ninth from G3 to A4, and avoided writting accidentals (sharps or flats).

    And, just one more thing in relation to my Havanna-song: it happened that the Tarragona people's platform “Salvem la Platja Llarga” (Let's save the Long Beach), came to know my song and liked it very much, so that they proposed me to use it for their campaigns. When I told them there was no problem from my side, they wrote lyrics to it and recorded a sung version which you will find in their Web page.
